The investigation in the Dutch scientific misconduct case has now spread to the Leiden University Medical Center, according to media reports in the Netherlands. The case first came to public attention last month when the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam fired prominent cardiovascular researcher Don Poldermans. A spokesman for LUMC told the Dutch media that the investigation is specifically looking at “a professor who has published frequently” with Poldermans [according to Google Translate], but it may also investigate other Leiden scientists. No names have so far been publicly mentioned, though CardioBrief has identified a prominent academic cardiologist at LUMC who has published more than 350 papers with Poldermans.
